If you overlook the "robots" having emotions and behaving like cute little pets, this movie is very enjoyable. I kept thinking Wall-e was a puppy and every time I remembered that it's actually a robot, there was a slight glitch in my joy levels.
This is a great way of warning ourselves of the dangers we face as we continue down the track of wanting to make things easy for us. But as one aspect of life gets easier, another side of it gets more complicated. That's the trade-off that we tend not to notice. Anyway, since this seems to be a movie for kids with some messages for the grownups, we shouldn't expect everything to be realistic.
I like the way the Captain fights back in the anti-climax. But then, another thing that I found hard to believe was his conviction (and the willingness of others) to go back to Earth, despite learning that it's not what it used to be, and that living can be tough. After all, they've been used to all the creature comforts for centuries. Perhaps that's the bliss of ignorance?
My cynical/realsitic self can almost see a mutiny after just 2 days of landing on Earth. Where's my transporter? Where's my food? Where's the machine that brushes my teeth and gives me a bath and dresses me? Where's my bed???? boohoohoooo I want to go back to Axiom!
