It's a good story, and the movie is well made. Acting was good as well. Just not sure if Sanjay Dutt was the best choice for Girish..
Vasu reviews
I love stories. I had a go at making up stories when I was little but I think I'm much better at telling stories than writing them. Here I endeavor to write what I remember of the stories of books I read and movies I watched, and my thoughts on them.
They may or may not contain spoilers, there's no format as such for the "review" :)

Holy Cow by Sarah McDonald
I only read about half the book so far and I'm finding it rather tiresome. I was curious about the spiritual journey of the author and of course I expected some comment on the stark contrasts between wealth and poverty, beauty and filth etc. But the book dwells on the negative aspects for quite a while and there is so much stereotyping that the other parts of the book lost their appeal for me. I'm now trying to get through the book just for the sake of finishing it.
It could also be that I was born in India, spent my childhood and half my teen years there. I can whinge all I want about India but get uncomfortable when others complain..

Lafangey Parindey
Neil Nitin Mukesh is cute. Deepika Padukone is beautiful and she can act. There's a lot of slang throughout the movie which, for me, was an effort to follow at times.
It's a watchable movie, but I was expecting something serious to happen. It seemed like an abrupt happy ending.. oddly enough.

Arundhathi
I actually liked this movie, though it has too much red paint.
Anushka is fantastic as Jejamma. She is beautiful, expressive and majestic. I think I have a new favourite actress. :) I also like her portrayal of modern day Arundhathi, particularly in the scene where she's trying desperately to keep pasupathi from coming out of the fakir's house while coming to terms with a scary reality. She conveyed the panic and the fear very convincingly.
I have some doubts though - I thought the young Jejamma wasn't in the dance class when the teacher was explaining about the drum dance thinking that the person who entered is Jejamma (but it's actually Pasupathi). So how did Jejamma get so good at it to be able to trap Pasupathi? I suppose she had other teachers after that who continued the lessons..
Jejamma speaking to Arundhathi through the painting..? Making her "read" it aloud at that, for the benefit of those around her..? Hmm, maybe Jejamma got the yogis to put some mantras on the painting as well to do this magic.
Also, in the anticlimax, Arundhathi actually stabs herself which enables her to destroy Pasupathi. So.. wouldn't she also be dead along with the poor guy whose body Pasupathi took over..? I was a little surprised when she walked out of the crumbling Gadwal fort relatively unhurt.
Oh, and the fakir baba has 9 lives or what :)

A Good Woman
After buying and unwrapping the DVD months ago, I finally watched it with Jey. I had read "Lady Windermere's Fan" years ago, so I can't remember the details of the story..
Anyway, the movie is not bad, will pass time. Casting could have been better.. the acting is fine but somehow, it feels like the movie didn't reach its potential.
I must say I felt for Stella at the end of her goodbye conversation with Meg.

Wall-e
If you overlook the "robots" having emotions and behaving like cute little pets, this movie is very enjoyable. I kept thinking Wall-e was a puppy and every time I remembered that it's actually a robot, there was a slight glitch in my joy levels.
This is a great way of warning ourselves of the dangers we face as we continue down the track of wanting to make things easy for us. But as one aspect of life gets easier, another side of it gets more complicated. That's the trade-off that we tend not to notice. Anyway, since this seems to be a movie for kids with some messages for the grownups, we shouldn't expect everything to be realistic.
I like the way the Captain fights back in the anti-climax. But then, another thing that I found hard to believe was his conviction (and the willingness of others) to go back to Earth, despite learning that it's not what it used to be, and that living can be tough. After all, they've been used to all the creature comforts for centuries. Perhaps that's the bliss of ignorance?
My cynical/realsitic self can almost see a mutiny after just 2 days of landing on Earth. Where's my transporter? Where's my food? Where's the machine that brushes my teeth and gives me a bath and dresses me? Where's my bed???? boohoohoooo I want to go back to Axiom!
